Human Evolution
Human Evolution: A Journey Through Time Human evolution is the lengthy process of change by which modern humans (Homo sapiens) originated from primate ancestors. This story spans over 6 million years, tracing the development of traits that make us uniquely human—such as walking upright, using tools, and developing language and culture. Through fossil records, genetic evidence, and comparative anatomy, scientists have pieced together a rich and complex evolutionary timeline.

Introduction to Biology

Contrary to popular belief, human evolution has not stopped. Our species continues to evolve, both biologically and culturally. Traits such as resistance to certain diseases, the ability to digest milk (lactose tolerance), and adaptations to high altitudes have evolved relatively recently.

Cultural evolution—through science, technology, and global communication—now plays a major role in shaping humanity’s future. While natural selection still operates, human behavior, medicine, and technology have created new pressures and possibilities for evolution.
